My Favorite European Summer Hair Inspo for Our Next Trip
Okay girl, let’s talk about vacation hair. I swear I spend half my life planning my outfits for trips and then totally blank on what to do with my hair. Like, I will have my entire itinerary mapped out but then I step off the plane and the humidity just ruins my whole vibe.
But lately I have been super obsessed with European summer aesthetics. Specifically, I am deep down the rabbit hole of italy hairstyles right now. They just have that perfect mix of effortless but still somehow looking like you have your life together.
You know exactly the look I am talking about. It is giving pasta on a terrace at sunset. So I spent literally three hours last night saving the best inspo on Pinterest for us. Grab your iced coffee because we really need to discuss these looks. I am so ready to book a flight after looking at these.
Sleek Milanese blowout
I literally can’t get over how expensive this looks. Like, you could be wearing sweatpants but with this hair, you own a yacht. Okay maybe not sweatpants, but picture this sleek hair paired with a really trendy barrel pants outfit and some chunky loafers. So good right? I feel like the girls in Milan just wake up with perfect volume. I tried to do this at home with my round brush last week and my arm was actually cramping after ten minutes. But honestly the payoff is huge. You just look so polished and put together.
Effortless Roman waves
This is for those days when you are just walking around eating gelato and trying not to melt in the sun. The key here is that it shouldn’t look too perfect. You want it to look like the wind just naturally gave you these gorgeous waves. I usually just use a flat iron to bend random pieces of my hair and then mess it up with texturizing spray. It is so much more relaxed than typical glam. When we go on our next trip, I am making you try this. It literally takes five minutes and looks so chic.
Chic Tuscan low bun
Okay so picture us at a vineyard in Tuscany. We have wine in hand and the sun is setting. You need a hairstyle that keeps your hair out of your face so you can actually enjoy the pasta and the views. That is where this low bun comes in. I love how it’s pulled back but still has a few pieces falling out around the face. I did a style just like this when we went to that winery upstate last fall and it stayed put all day. It is just so elegant and easy. Plus it hides greasy roots like a absolute dream on day three of a trip.
Classic Italian bob
Don’t let me look at this picture for too long or I will literally go to the salon and chop all my hair off today. I know we always talk about cutting our hair and then chicken out at the last second. But this bob is just calling my name. It is so sharp and clean. You just look at a girl with this haircut and know she has her life perfectly organized. Maybe I’ll finally do it before summer starts. What do you think? Should I just go for it?
Voluminous dolce vita curls
Now this is what I call absolute drama. Big, bouncy, glamorous curls that take up space. I feel like when I search for greece hairstyles it is always super undone and salty, which is cute, but sometimes a girl just wants to look rich. You know what I mean? These curls need hot rollers. I bought a set of hot rollers off Amazon like two months ago and they are a total game changer for this specific look. You just pop them in while you do your makeup and boom. You are an Italian movie star.
Elegant Venetian updo
This is for the fancy dinner reservations. You definitely need some bobby pins and a good hairspray for this one. I am notoriously bad at updos. Like, my hair just wants to escape instantly.
Sun-kissed Amalfi layers
I am obsessed with these face-framing layers. They just bounce so nicely when you walk. Usually when I am packing for a tropical trip I look up mexico hairstyles because I need things that survive 100 percent humidity. But the Amalfi coast vibe is a little different. It is breezy and light. I asked my stylist for layers like this last time and it makes styling so much easier.
Sophisticated side-part style
The side part is fully back and we just have to accept it.
Timeless la dolce vita waves
You literally cannot go wrong with this. It is the blueprint. Soft, brushed out waves that look totally touchable. I feel like every time I see an influencer in Europe, they have this exact hair. It is not too curly but not straight either. Just perfectly in the middle. I bet if you slept with your hair in two loose braids you could wake up with this exact texture.
Polished Capri ponytail
When it is ninety degrees outside, the hair simply has to go up.
Refined Florence chignon
This is pure art. Like, this hairstyle belongs in a museum right next to the statues. It is so low and perfectly twisted.
Casual coastal texture look
This is the literal “I just got off a boat” look. It is a little piecey, a little salty, and completely cool.
Luxury glossy straight style
Okay, glossy is the keyword here. This straight hair is reflecting light like a literal mirror. I am so jealous. To get this look you definitely need a really good heat protectant and a flat iron that doesn’t snag. My thick Native hair takes forever to get this straight, but the result is just stunning. It is so sleek.
Romantic Sicilian braid
And finally, we have this gorgeous loose braid. It is so romantic and soft. I love how it’s pulled over one shoulder. It gives you that fairytale princess vibe but in a cool, modern way. I would pull out lots of little pieces around the hairline to make it look lived-in. This is such a good option when your hair is getting a little messy but you still want to look cute for pictures. It takes two seconds but looks like you really tried.
So what do you think? I am seriously debating between trying the blowout or just throwing it in that chic low bun tomorrow. Let me know which one you want to try first and we can totally do a test run this weekend!
