So listen I’ve been meaning to tell you about how much I’ve been into playing with my locs lately… its kinda turned into this whole thing where I’m always trying new ways to wear them and it just makes me feel so good?? I started them a few years ago after my hair was fried from all the coloring and straightening, and at first I was nervous but now I wouldn’t trade them for anything.
My locs feel like home on my head… protective, strong, and totally me.
You know me and Pinterest, right? I fell down this rabbit hole the other night looking for fresh ideas and ended up with like fifty pins of the prettiest loc styles for women. Some of them are so simple but look incredible, others are more dressed up.
Okay story time because I have to tell you this one… remember my cousins wedding in July? I did this high bun with a few loose pieces framing my face and my grandma, who’s super traditional and usually doesn’t say much about hair, pulled me aside and said “baby your hair looks so beautiful like that” and I almost cried because she never comments on stuff like that. Then there was this other time I wore the half-up style to meet this guy for drinks and he kept playing with the loose locs around my face and saying how much he loved the texture… yeah that date went pretty well haha. And dont get me started on the day I just let them hang with a deep side part… felt like a whole new woman walking down the street.
Some Loc Styles Im Totally Feeling Lately
Long Locs with Center Part
Long locs just hanging with a clean center part is my everyday mood when I dont wanna do much. It frames my face nice and lets the length show off all the work Ive put in. Some mornings I wake up and its already looking good… those are the best days.
Shoulder-Length Locs with Soft Layers
Shoulder length with those soft layers gives so much bounce. Its not too long but still has movement.
High Bun Loc Hairstyle
The high bun is my lifesaver when its hot or Im running late.
Half-Up Half-Down Locs Style
Half up half down is probably my most worn lately. Shows off the length but keeps hair out of my face.
Side-Parted Locs with Loose Flow
Switching my part to the side totally refreshes everything.
Thick Locs with Natural Texture
When my locs are thick and just doing their thing with all that natural texture… thats when I feel most myself. No styling needed, just let them be big and beautiful. Makes me feel powerful on days when I need that extra boost.
Locs Pulled Back into Low Ponytail
Low ponytail is so simple but classy. Keeps everything neat but still shows the length. I wear this when Im working from home or running around doing errands… practical but pretty.
Boho Locs with Curly Ends
The boho curly ends give such a free-spirited feel. Love how playful it looks. Makes me wanna throw on a flowy dress and go dance somewhere.
Loc Bob Hairstyle with Clean Part
A loc bob is so sharp and modern. The clean part keeps it sleek. Ive been tempted to cut mine shorter so many times because this length looks so sophisticated.
Stuff About Locs People Always Ask Me
How do you keep locs healthy? Lots of moisture, light oils, and not over-twisting. I deep condition every couple weeks and sleep on a satin pillowcase… little things add up.
Does it hurt to start locs? The beginning can be tender yeah especially the first few retwists. But it gets better quick and now mine barely feel anything.
Can you wash locs often? Yep I wash mine every week or two depending on how active Ive been. They dry slower but as long as you squeeze out the water and let them air dry its fine.
Anyway girl thats all my loc thoughts for now… been chatting your ear off but you know how I get when I love something. Locs have honestly been the best thing for my hair and my confidence. If youre thinking about it just go for it… you wont regret it I promise.
